Abstract : Abstract: The purpose of this study was to seek the electronic approach classifying the descriptive nursing records and matching them into ICNP code. A computerized nursing record analysis program was developed and applied in a University hospital since Jan, 2003. The program was developed based on System Development Life Cycle and consisted of 6 modules: nurses' input module, initial classification and editing module, first classification module, second classification module, ICNP code management module, and statistic analysis module. This nursing record analysis program has been proven very useful, and time & cost-effective in classifying the natural nursing language into standardized statements and matching them into ICNP codes. It was also very effective in managing local vocabulary. keyword : Nursing Record, ICNP, Computerized Program, Vocabulary
