Abstract : The purpose of this study was to develop a XML based evidence based nursing practice guideline that includes a comprehensive set of concepts to be useful throughout the guideline life cycle. The major contents in the developed guideline are identity, developer, purpose, intended audience, target population, development method, testing, knowledge, and appendix. The developed XML based guideline was transformed into XSL format which was more user friendly. This system can be used in developing an online guidelines which can be easily shared among institutions. Next steps in our work with this system will involve developing XML based guideline which can include multimedia sources , and building and disseminating the online evidence based nursing practice guidelines.
