Abstract : The purpose of this study is to find out how effectively nursing classification systems such as ICNP and NIC can be mapped with nursing records of stroke patients admitted in an chinese medicine hospital. The data were collected from 744 admission days of 36 stroke patients and total 140 nursing statements were extracted from nursing records. From 140 nursing statements, 66.43% of nursing statements were completely mapped with ICNP and another 32.86% were mapped with ICNP partially. About 82% of nursing statements were mapped with NIC intervention level and 15.7% of intervention were mapped with activity level of NIC. Therefore, both ICNP and NIC were found as useful classification systems for recording nursing care of stroke patients admitted in chinese medicine hospital and can be used to the development of nursing information system. keyword : ICNP, NIC, nursing record, classification system, mapping
