Abstract : The Crouzon syndrome is one of the craniofacial anomaly characterized by premature fusion of calvarial sutures, midface hypoplasia, shallow orbits, and ocular proptosis. The Ontology is accepted as a useful strategy for constructing stable and reusable medical terminology and electronic medical records. It will be the most powerful model for storing, retrieving and communicating the patient-oriented medical record in the semantic network. The purpose of this project is to establish the medico-dental domain ontology library of the Crouzon syndrome. Web-based ontology modeling tool is used as a base of constructing conceptual model which can be translated easily into other ontology based system. Case analysis showed 3,314 general medico-dental concepts in the outpatient records, admission patient records and orthodontic case records. Also 238 concept for specific diagnosis of Crouzon syndrome were extracted and classified. From the basic knowledge related to pathogenesis of Crouzon syndrome, 69 concepts and 29 relations which associated with diagnostic criteria of Crouzon were identified. In conclusion, we extracted enough concepts for the diagnosis fo Crouzon syndrome, which consists of basic knowledge form textbooks and publications and clinical informations from the patient record. Further refinement and data analysis is necessary.
