Abstract : In this paper, we have developed an intelligent information retrieval system for the medical application, having such functions as search, summarization, clustering and categorization. We have tested the functions of the system with the 1234 medical records of the doctors' views of clinical patient treatment in a hospital. Our system makes contribution to the maximal use of the accumulated contents of the records for the treatment of other patients who have a similar disease. By retrieving data, clustering the similar contents together and categorizing with the special topics, the medical information from the system will be efficiently used. One of the system's benefits is that the system includes its own search engine as in Google and the document's clustering function as in Vivisimo. To add new functions to the present system is simple due to the built-in search engine. It makes our research easy to expand to the semantic information retrieval using the concept of ontology and to the findings of the meaning patterns of medical data in the near future.
