Abstract : Along with the advancement of information technology, telemedicine is becoming recognized as one new method of medical service and gaining importance in the Korean medical field. This study comprised a comprehensive and distinct research into the current status of and methods for improving the telemedicine systems presently in operation in Korea and was based on a survey questionnaire which was categorized in operation, techniques, training, standards and guides, laws and system, administrations, economic relation, social adaptation ability, and external environment of telemedicine. We confirmed that the activation of telemedicine remains insufficient. However, the professionals in the telemedicine predict that it will continue to increase greatly in the future.
