Abstract : The cilia of the nasal mucosa remove the microorganism and noxious particles; plays the role of the first protective mechanism of our body. The performance of mucous transportation in the nasal cavity can be measured observing repetitious ciliary movements. The upper respiratory infection, sinusitis, bronchitis and bronchiectasis are diseases caused by wrong ciliary movements. There are various methods of the measurement of the CBF. This study uses an optical flow methodology that uses the iterative Lucas-Kanade method in pyramid to analyze ciliary movements. This method can get strong results in color and shape changes of the object because it uses moving area of cilia. We experimented with 10 samples and obtained 95.0% accuracy.
