October 20, 9:00 - 17:00 Turotials T1: Standards in Health Informations
- Tutor: Michio Kimura (Japan)
- In medical informatics field, many standards have been published and become in effect. For syntax of data exchange, HL7 and DICOM are two leading standards. For item codes, there are some global things and some local things. And there are more for data types, frameworks, nomenclatures, etc. The tutorial browses these activities, including ISO/TC 215 activities.
T2: Mobile Computing
- Tutor: Andreww K. Leong (Korea)
- PC.'s & HISs have produced many benefits & advantages to hospitals. From financial & administration systems to advanced clinical systems, a HIS has become an essential part of a healthcare organization's operations. And yet there has always been limitations that until recently, have prevented a hospital from becoming a truly digital hospital, a paperless hospital. This is because the information stored in a HIS is not portable. Mobile computing is going to change all this and revolutionize healthcare IT. This workshop will discuss experiences in mobile computing and enable us to share about the new challenges & concepts that need to take place to take advantage of this exciting technology. If you are interested in the future of healthcare IT then this workshop should not be missed.
T4: Health and Medical Informatics
- Tutor: Myeng-Ki Kim & Taiwoo Yoo (Korea)
- In this tutorial, the basic and fundamental concepts of medical informatics are introduced. The more society become informatized, clinical information becomes more critical in patient care. Because clinical information plays an decisive role in making diagnosis and prognosis, health and medical applications in medical informatics are discussed in general to further improve healthcare environment in the very near future.
T6: Clinical Document Architecture for Patients Referrals
- Tutor: Stephen Chu (New Zealand)
- Recently, electronic exchange of medical information becomes the essential part in order to facilitate global healthcare networking through the globe. In this regard, fundamentals of CPR/EHR and basics of CDA(Clinical Document architecture) will be covered in the following categories :
- Terms and definitions
* including differentiation of summary EHR and comprehensive EHR
- CPR and EHR: development history
- From document to EHR:
* Clinical document architecture and distributed CDA as starter model for summary EHR
- EHR Architecture
* CEN EHR Com architecture
* openEHR architecture and archetype
* The HL7 RIM, clinical templates and EHR
Also, other technical, legal and confidentiality issues are covered for future directionsT8: Intelligent Data Analysis & Data Mining
- Tutor: Kyu-seok Shim (Korea)
- This tutorial describes the fundamental algorithms for data mining, many of which have been proposed in recent years. These techniques include association rules, correlation, causal relationship, clustering, outlier detection, similar time sequences, similar images, sequential patterns and classification. In addition, since we will cover technical material in some degree of depth, the audience will get a good exposure to the results in the area, and also future research directions.
